The Architect MICHAEL WITTY Born in Brisbane Qld Australia in 1952 educated in the GPS system (St.Joseph’s College, Gregory Terrace) completed architecture at the University of Qld in the early seventies. Worked in several established Brisbane architectural practices gaining experience in residential design, units, hotel and resort accommodation. Various travel overseas during this period gave the impetus and experience of good design. In the late 70’s established Michael Witty Architects. During the 80’s registration as both a general builder and a commercial builder enabled the practice to grow in experience as a design and construct practice. Projects undertaken were large residences, units, townhouses, boutique office buildings, shopping complexes all over S.E.Qld. Notable designs during this period were THE OCEAN ISLES at Main Beach on the Gold Coast and the HILL Residence at Paradise Waters. Various travel overseas during this period was to Europe, S.E.Asia and Japan. In the mid 90’s the partnership Robertson Witty Architects was formed to provide a fully computerised integrated architecture and interior design practice. The practice then concentrated on more up-market residential work in S.E.Qld completing many notworthy residences and designing and project managing the unit complex VILLA CASABLANCA at Hope Island as well as undertaking projects such as residences in Singapore, penthouse unit fitouts and alterations in HongKong, Taipei and Shanghai culminating in the design of the clubhouse for the Beijing Links Golf Course, Beijing. travel during this decade has been mainly work related to S.E.Asia. With the start of the new millenium MICHAEL WITTY ARCHITECTS has re-established its position as the principal residential design practice in S.E.Qld concentrating on unique one off residences and top of the range unit and townhouse projects. We see a bright and exciting future for residential design at the start of this new millenium with the introduction of new environmentally friendly materials, the advent of the ‘smart building’, the greater incorporation of computers in the building process and greater sophistication of fixing methods.
